Thinking about shutting down for a while
So, would anybody notice? I blog other places, and comment other places. I guess Lynda would notice; I'd just have to e-mail more often, wouldn't I honey?
When I was out of work, or going to school, or suicidal, or evacuating from a hurricane, I had interesting things to write about. My life is so hum-drum now. I'm going to Ohio for a week next week, but I'm going to work while I'm there, just like I do every day. The only thing really absolutely top notch indescribably amazing about my life is my sex life, and that's way more information than any of you want to know, I'm sure.
Maybe it would be good if I was more passionate about things, and more expressive in my writing about those things. It's probably a result of all those years of programming. If Then Else and Select Case Default and Do While Loop Exit End and For Next don't leave a lot of room for nuanced expression. The goal is specific and concise.
I'd been reading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, and was really excited about writing for a while. Blogging seems to dissipate my discipline to write. I can just babble on the internet and don't have to develop characters or set scenes. My writing skill is adequate to the task at hand, so I don't stretch or push or try to make something "more" of it. Maybe if I focus my writing elsewhere for a while I'll feel pushed to stretch myself. Then again, maybe I'll just play Collapse and Spider Solitaire.

I would more than notice!
Girl, Ms.Banana, I have a very small group of blogger buddies that mean the world to me.
DING DING, you are at the top of the list.
I'm the most boring person on the planet and it doesn't stop me from posting!
So stop whining and keep posting! ;o)
(I'm addicted to FlipWords and sex is a very worthy topic!)
I would notice, I already have noticed that you have been spending less time online. Maybe your spending to much time blogging at the "other places" that I am not aware of. If shifting your life around makes things better, I am all for it and sometimes things run their course and it becomes time to move on.
If you do move on, I'll notice and miss you very much.
Oh, I would notice if you put the blog on hiatus.
Yeah, I'd notice, also.
But you know, summer is a hard season. Everybody needs a siesta.
I'm going to :).
I love Anne Lamott. Well, I've only read Traveling Mercies and wrote her a gushing fan letter. I think she didn't write back because she's a liberal and I'm a Mormon.
But doesn't she rock?
Ann, I would notice your absence. I completely understand the need to blog less and do more. We all want you to do what is best for you. Plus, we are all happy that a break is because you are HAPPY. :) Who can argue with that?
Annegb, Anne Lamott is also a very devout Christian. I would guess she was just too busy to respond, but that that had nothing to do with your Mormon-ness. I love her non-fiction much more than her fiction because it feels less forced to me.
You are SO right!!! I would notice! It's hard enough to get you to actually e-mail me, that I'm afraid if you quit the blog I would never know what's going on with you!! So, you can't quit! Can't, can't, can't.
Everyone else is so nice...things run their course, summer break, etc. etc. Not me.
And sex life???? Oh, that's just a tease!!!
Love you Dear.
I'd notice, and I'd be bummed because you were the first out of all of us to blog. It's become a habit of mine to look for how you're doing.
Where would you put your "real" writing? Tell me, and I promise I won't tell anybody else.
I would miss you too!!!
i would notice and miss you and be sad :(
Whoa! Not so fast! I just found you again so you can't just up-and-leave yet.
Now give me a day or two to catch up from where I last "saw" you. . .
-Lori
Sorry I don't come as often as I used to, but you are near the top of my list and I would notice.
