"When boats evacuated patients, Hopson begged to go with his wife. Instead, he was sidetracked to a plane that landed in San Antonio. Eventually, they found each other before she died earlier this year"

Grrrr. :(

A new kind of normal is so wonderfully descriptive of life.

A governments ONLY purpose is protection of its citizens.
Sure, they couldn't have stopped Katrina...but this is how a nation treats their own?
It is amazing to me what the people of the United States allow our government to get away with.
Like charging AMERICAN CITIZENS to be evacuated from Israel.
Why, then, do we pay taxes?
Oh, yes to invade another country for oil and personal gain, now I remember.
A very ill nation indeed.

Yeah, it's a new kind of normal, for sure. Evidently, I'm not the only professional type who has had a dream about the city being wiped out and moving away. My therapist told me about a client who said it would have been better if the whole place had been destroyed so that she could be underway with a new life, instead of having the storm-jitters around here.
