Another boring post about math
I got my third test back. An 88, the highest grade in both classes. I completely blew one question, so I knew I wasn't going to get more than a 90, but I'm still quite pleased with the results.
The instructor has said that since nobody got an A, the scores will be curved up about 8-10 points. Also, he has assigned us to re-do all the questions on the first three tests as homework this weekend, to be worth anywhere from 40-60 points (probably 40, maybe 50). I got 30/30 on the quiz I took yesterday, and got 10/10 on classwork today. I'm solidly in the "C" range now, and I MIGHT be able to pull off a "B" if I do well on the final.
So, I'm not going to drop the class. And I'm going to work my backside off, and see if I can pull off a "B."
I've been a little concerned about all the babbling I've done about this at home. It must be tedious for my DH to hear me prattling on about my little undergraduate freshman math class. He has a Ph.D., fercryinoutloud. But bless him, he humors me.
On the job search front, I sent out four resumes this week and haven't even started on the classifieds. I'm thinking of looking for a job at a grocery store or something during the day when little boy is at school in the fall. And I do still have a couple of irons in the fire that I'm carefully tending that might lead to REAL jobs.

I enjoy all your math postings. :D
I'm really glad now that I did the remedial Algebra thing, its one step lower than what you are doing. However, my school seperates Pre-cal into College Algebra and Trig. I think its to get more money. >:0
I don't *need* calc, but I want to take it because I believe having a solid mathematical foundation is an important problem solving skill, kwim? It means I will need to take both College Algebra and Trig next semester, as well as my foreign language and a science most likely. What a crappy schedule. This is so I can take Calc next Winter. There is so much I want to take before I transfer.
A number of the local schools do the class I'm taking now over two semesters instead of one. My prof says doing it in one semester is a political thing, and it's really too much material for one class.
I'm probably not going to do calculus until spring, if I do it at all this year. School is going to be slow this year; I'm going to try to do some web-based stuff in the fall so I can keep my enrollment active, but I'm going to try and stay on the Northshore while little boy is in K (and to work here, too!)
Ann -- have you ever thought about working for the school system? I don't know whether they've got any openings or not right now, but the schedules are pretty accommodating to parents of school kids. No Child Left Behind is wreaking havoc, so I've got no idea what's up with school positions. They've got a website with job postings.
