One more time...
I start the new job on Thursday. IT person (the only one) for an Arby's franchise (53 stores). I go in to the office on Thursday and Friday, and Monday I leave for Chicago. I haven't travelled on business in years. It'll be interesting...Chicago in January, and I don't own a winter coat.
The money is better than the other job. The benefits are not as good, but they're still perfectly acceptable. No 401k, so I'll have to go with a Roth IRA on my own.
I'm looking forward to this job. Not only is the money better, but it's a much better job than the one I lost in terms of potential growth and variety.

It's been a good week for both of us. I'm only bummed because you will be so close, yet so far.
Drinking my glass of red wine in your honor, huzzah!
WOO-HOO! Congratulations, and have fun in Chicago. Have a pizza pie at Gino's East while you're there.
You'll ROCK, girl! I can so picture you doing this. This is so exciting!!! "Your future growth potential" -- that's what I love to hear from a smart woman like you :)
That's great news on the job. No coat? Not needing a coat during winter sounds rather nice about now. Is the trip to Chicago for training or will this be a part of your routine?
We just went through Chicago last month, WX was better there, than Cleveland. Cleveland is getting more snow now, not sure how Chicago is fairing at the moment. Best find a coat in any case.
Good for you! This job does seem to have more potential for career growth and sounds more interesting to boot. I hate to say it, but I just can't help myself, everything seems to be turning around and working out for you.
PS: Go and buy a coat, keep the tags on and return it later. Tacky, I know, but it's pretty damn cold in January up in those parts!

A friend from church (I have two) loaned me a lovely 100% wool navy blue topcoat. It comes to mid-calf and buttons up around the neck, or can be worn open at the neck like a jacket. It will be perfect. She wants it back when I'm done, which is no problem at all. Her mama lives with her, and she took it out of mama's closet. I wonder if mama knows...
Congratulations, how did you land this job? Good luck and enjoy the travelling!

I saw an ad for a job on the Northshore - which means near me, and not in New Orleans. It was the right kind of work, so I e-mailed a resume and followed up with a phone call to the headhunter. I'm great on the phone, so I got an interview with him. I'm great on the phone, so I did well with the IT consultant. I make a good first impression, so I did well with the CEO and the accounting people. And I'm great on the phone, so I did well with the Director of Operations. Yes, you counted that right...FIVE interviews.
The travelling is going to be rare, but there'll be a lot of it up front.
