Some things are better left unsaid

That's not just a great song by Hall and Oates (yes, I'll be 45 tomorrow, how did you know?) it's also a good philosophy to live by.

Work has been very busy and life has been uneventful. The only thing really worth blogging about this week is...probably better left unsaid, at least for now. Nothing earth shattering; I'm just still processing it.

Does anybody out there have a cleaning person? What do you pay?

It doesn't matter what they cost, it's worth it. Back in California there were two women a block over that started their own cleaning business. We signed them up for once a week, and after the initial embarrasement of 'can't let a stranger see my dirty bathroom' from my wife and my 'that's why we are hiring them' from me it was great. In SD we used 'Merry Maids' a few times on call, when a group was due over and things were hectic. But if you are out of the house often (work or school) then get a regular schedule. Even if it's a once every two week thing, the big companies go for anything.

Happy Birthday, Ann! I hope this year will be the good year you deserve.

Want some (virtual) homemade chocolate cake? I make a killer chocolate cake, but only for birthdays.

Happy Happy Birthday Nanna Dear,
Happy Days will come to you all year!
If I had a wish then it would be. . .
(c'mon, you know you want to sing along!)
A Happy Happy Birthday to you from me!

Have a great birthday and enjoy the Kings Cake

-Lori

PS: I had a maid, unbeknown to my husband. He thought I was working SO HARD and even took me out to dinner because I must be "so tired from all the work I did today". Typical story, he comes home early from work one day. . . and I'm totally busted. I really miss Rosa!

Oh, I missed the part where you said "turning 45 tomorrow." Happy Birthday, and I hope you're OK with the 45 thing. Mine's coming up this year, too. I've caught myself lying about my age a lot more this year -- 45 seems too close to 50 to me, so I go into denial about it. Writing about it right this very minute isn't even cathartic, like I thought it would be.

Huh.

(sigh) Yeah, so to leave with a happy thought: There are some people who are older than us. Waaaay older.

I tried a maid once and hated it, by the way. I'd rather make my family help me once in a while.

Thanks for the kind birthday wishes. My mother sent me a bookmark from the local library that listed all the "food days" for the month of January. My birthday (January 27) is "National Chocolate Cake Day." A lovely and appropriate coincidence.

Work folks bought me cards and a (chocolate) cake, which was really, really nice.
