New Plan

We aren't going. Even if we can get in, that doesn't mean we should. Things are bad there, and there's not a thing on our list we can't live without.

The front line troops are focussing on search & rescue. There are people trapped there that can't get out. Will they beat us up? People in New Orleans are going nuts...people do crazy things when they're in survival mode.

We'll go back when the Powers That Be tell us we can. It's just a house. It's just stuff.

Safety is more important than stuff. Trying to sneak in when there's no power or water may be something you could do, but its just stuff. Really. I know that its terrific stuff, but it can be replaced. So go if you must, but be safe and take good care of each other, whatever you do.

Ah, Ann,

God bless and Blessed Be how I like your new plan!

I choked back tears last night while reading your blog to my husband. Hearing you were contemplating a sneak-in was perfectly understood by me, but I was frightened.

News reports have included the possibility of refugees hijacking cars (coming or going) to get them out of the area. I add my voice to kitestring's to "be safe."

This is when my imagined Prophetess powers feel incredibly dull...devoid the wings to get all your stuff for you. xoxoxox

Love, Deb

Whew! I've read your posts on various blogs and forums enough to feel like I know you, and I'm so relieved to hear that you won't be putting yourself in harm's way.

Ann,

Family is more important than stuff and I am glad that you are heading up to be with your family for a while. Your new plan sounds like a winner.

Take care and know that I am thinking of you, your family and Randy & his family.

Hi again Dear:

I'm keeping track of you and thinking about you and family constantly. I saw the CNN report this morning too and all radars were up when I saw they were talking about Slidell. What they showed didn't look as awful as Naw-Lens. Thank the Goddess! SO glad you are not going to try and get back right now.

Hi to The-Man for me.

Love You!!!!!!!

Ann, MW here from Lubbock. Thinking of you and your family in Houston (my home town, relatives there if you need contact-reach me through your good friend Lynda), and New Orleans, Bless Her. So glad to know you are safe and not going back in yet. I've checked out images from Google Earth, and they are old. Wish they would update to NOW. Holding yall close to my thoughts.

Hi Ann, I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon, I hope you had a nice drive to Ohio. Big thumbs up to your family! I am sure there will be lots of hugs and discussion going on in Ohio very soon.

Yeah, glad you decided not to sneak in. It's not even a matter of if you can get in. The area is massively hazardous in many unseen ways as well. All that water flowing around is going to be crawling with diseases and chemical pollutants. Plus, some of the looters are a leetle desperate or scary right about now. (I'm not talking about people looting for food or clean water--those people are sorta justified in my opinion. But the folks taking electronics and aiming at the police--those could get more dangerous.)

I am now doubly glad you didn't return. A friend in Baton Rouge was telling me that Baton Rouge is now having some violent incidents and looting. There were some carjackings on Airline Beltway (?) and an outlet store in Gonzales is being looted. She said LSU was possibly going to be closed for a while, because of looting fears.

But Ann DID go back. I saw her when I drove by her house. But don't worry, she's not staying there.

Be sure to call if you are roaming the country for months and make it to Vegas. We've got a spare room (no, not for a two year stay, but it should be cleaned up by then, no?)
Sorry for the loss -
